With Every Season….

So, on Monday I said I had an announcement to make, and I figured that it would be best to share it as soon as possible. I guess this could be considered a sad announcement, but not really!

While I was away being refreshed and getting some much needed color, God made some things very clear for me. The past few months has involved much narrowing down of commitments and passions, as I’ve shared in previous posts. I felt, last week, that God was continuing that process of elimination, and I feel very peaceful about the conclusions. With that said, this blog is going to change. This will no longer be one of my main focuses. Wait, don’t be upset! Let me finish.

One of the conversations I had last week with someone who is very passionately pursuing his gifts shared with me that even when God takes away a desire and replaces it with a new one  (or a RE-newed one), that it is still wise to fulfill your commitments until it’s completion, and continue to steward your gifts accordingly.  I have no idea if that makes any sense. Let me see if I can make that sound a little more coherent.

My desire for music has be re-awakened. With that came the diminished drive to do Jude And The Walrus, blog and etsy shop included. It was a feeling I started to have a couple of weeks ago, but was sort of in denial about it because I was finally getting the hang of the whole blog thing. I feel such a strong magnetism to writing music, singing, and becoming better skilled at the instruments I love. I even kinda want to get into the engineering and production aspect of music, and I couldn’t have married a better person to teach me how to do that!

Like I’ve said SO MANY TIMES, I’m only one person. And I committed a while back to stop committing so much- hehe. I feel peaceful about this decision.

Here’s where the stewarding my gifts accordingly comes in. Jude And The Walrus is not over for good. I will still be posting, but just not as much. The posts that I do share will be words that I feel God has given me throughout the week, and so there will be a lot less posts about thrift store finds, hair, etc. I will also be closing my Etsy shop. HOWEVER, I will still gladly make accessories of all kinds for anyone who wants them. So orders will become “upon request only” starting in July.

And now for the fun part of the  post…

Yep! I want to get rid of all my goodies on etsy, so from today until June 30th, everything in my shop will be 50% off! There’s only one of each thing, so if you want something, don’t wait! Click here or the “Shop JATW” button in the right top corner to snatch it all up! Use coupon code SUMMER12 at checkout, and purchases of 2 or more accessories will get a surprise accessory for free!

Ok, go!

May The Fourth Be With You!

I just want to start off by apologizing for my lack of content this week. As you saw in Tuesday’s post, I started watching another 1 year old, and although fun, requiring some adjustments. I now have to play an even bigger puzzle, finding the right place and time in the day for blogging and other responsibilities. It has also been a very trying five days, because Abram has been teething HARDCORE. The poor little guy seems to constantly be in pain, and being 1 doesn’t help. He can’t communicate fully with me on how he feels, and it just makes for very difficult days. This morning he woke up with fluid in his chest and a higher fever than yesterday. Luckily all of the fluid and mucus he’s coughing up and rocket shooting out of his nose is clear. How gross was that? You’re welcome. Today will be a day of breathing treatments, baby tylenol and keeping him as happy as possible.

Thank God Daniel decided to stay home from work today and lend me a helping hand with the little tike. Having him home, regardless of what is happening, always makes for a better day. When I’ve had enough, he can take over. And Abram always seems to listen better when both of us are home.

Anyways, Jude and the Walrus has some pretty neat stuff coming up soon. I’m gonna be featuring some other wonderful writers, putting up some more items on Etsy and hopefully starting a sponsorship program soon. I’m also excited to write about the trip to Guatemala Daniel and I will be taking in November and how you can be a part of that mission!

Well friends, have a great weekend and don’t party too hard for Cinco De Mayo!

Shimmery Spring Headband Tutorial

Happy Monday! If you are wondering who the winner is of the A Nice Weekend Indeed Contest……. Miss Julianna Hendrix! She gets to pick any item from my etsy shop for free, and I’m even gonna take care of the S&H. Thank you to those who participated.

So anyways, I love spring, and so far it has been a wonderful one here in the ol’ Sunshine State. I’ve been searching and dreaming about accessories and such that woul compliment said season, and I saw this picture my friend Haley posted on Pinterest.

I thought this was really cute, and wanted to make one for myself. I’m not really into stars right now, so I made one with triangles. My current favorite shape. Ridiculous I know. Wanna see how I made it?

The supplies for this headband are simple, and you probably already have them lying around your house! Fetch you some scissors, white felt, a headband or ribbon, glitter, Mod Podge, a glue gun and glue sticks.

Cut out the shapes of your choice. They can be anything, and if you aren’t good at free-styling it, then just make a paper stencil first.

Take a paint brush and apply a liberal amount of Mod Podge to one of your triangles.

Sprinkle your glitter onto the triangle, and then repeat for the others. Don’t be afraid to use that glitter, you can pour the rest back in the container when you are done.

Let the beauties dry.

Once your pieces are dry, get your glue gun and attach the pieces to your headband. Make sure to space them correctly before you glue them, and be careful! Don’t burn your fingers like I always do.

For extra hold, cut small rectangles from your left over felt and glue them to the backs of your pieces, making sure that they don’t show from the front of your headband.

Your done! Now you have a shimmery spring headband to wear and make all of your friends jealous. Now for the fun part…. put it on!

If you like this headband but don’t feel like making one yourself, you can visit my etsy shop and buy this one! Not a fan of triangles? That’s o.k. Not everyone is perfect. I’d be glad to custom make you a headband with whatever shapes you like. Just shoot me an email at meganlee26@gmail.com.

Now get to work!
