My Everyday Face

Vintage Makeup Case // JATWSo, I have a decent amount of makeup. Now by “a decent amount”, I just mean that I have more than I typically use on any given day. I know there are plenty of ladies out there that have drawers full, and that’s cool too. I’m also pretty messy about my makeup. I asked for a vintage makeup case this past Christmas, thinking it would help me contain and organize it a little bit. It kinda of has… but I’ll always be cluttery. It’s in ma bones.

Messy Makeup // JATWThis wasn’t staged,  I promise. And yes, I set makeup in the sink because we never use the sink in our master bath anyway.

But anyways, I thought it would be fun to showcase my daily picks when it comes to makeup. Since a good portion of my week ends up being an adventure that I didn’t plan, I don’t put a ton of makeup on. I hate waking up any earlier than I have to, so I don’t have much time. But here’s what you’ll normally see on my face:

Magic Nude Liquid Powder from Loreal // JATWLoreal’s Magic Nude Liquid Powder may be the best thing I’ve ever discovered. You don’t have to use a sponge or brush to put it on, it has sunblock in it but doesn’t smell like it, it blends in with my skin flawlessly, and somehow makes my face look like I don’t have foundation on, but I do at the same time. AAANNNDD… it’s $10.

F21 Bronzer // JATWThis Forever 21 Bronzer is my most recent daily addition, and I’m really diggin’ it. I use the top and bottom left to highlight my face, and the top and bottom right for shadowing and blush. I haven’t used a bronzer in years, because I’m just the pastiest compared to my past sun-kissed skin tone. But this one manages to blend in well and not make me look like a beach face with a winter body (if that makes any sense).

Eyes // JATWHard Candy is great. So far everything I’ve bought from them goes on like something I bought at Sephora, but only costs me a fraction of the price. Their Lite Bright Concealer is great under the eyes, and it seems to last forever. I’ve discovered that this Maybeline mini palette goes really well with my skin tone. I’m usually one to gravitate towards blues and greens, because they are my favorite colors, but I’ve started to branch out. The Flamed Out Mascara from Covergirl is whatever… nothing special. Honestly, every mascara I’ve ever bought has been pretty much the same ol’ thing.

Naked 2 Palette // JATWWho doesn’t love the Naked 2 palette, am I right? Every now and then, I’ll get around to using all of them, but I apply Foxy every day.

NYX HD Studio Powder // JATWThis NYX finishing powder, as far as I’ve heard and have now experienced on my own, is exactly the same thing as the Makeup Forever HD finishing powder, but you get a lot more for a lot less. And it does exactly what it implies: It finishes my daily makeup routine.

So what do you use on a regular basis? Anything unique about your daily makeup routine?

A Little Thrift in November.

I try to stay away from the local thrift stores in my town so as to not spend all of my money ALLLL the time. I just really enjoy thrift shopping! But this morning I treated myself to a little bit of thrifting, and I found so many good treasures.

The canvas that says “Home Sweet Home” had a little note on the back that said “From: Marg, To: Sister Betty, 1979″. It’s the sweetest.

That plate is one of the prettiest pieces of kitchen ware I’ve ever seen. It was only $1!

Check out these two ol’ grumpy men. I’ve started collecting owls, and I’m thinking I might spray paint them all one color once I have a large collection. Or maybe just leave them, who knows.

This is my favorite find of the day. I wish there were several others, so that I could use some for gifts and keep one for myself.

Old Christmas pitcher! This bad boy is going to be my iced coffee’s home for the holidays.

Thrifty Thursday: Fall Finds

Over the past week and a half, I have found some really great treasures at the local thrift shops. Last Thursday I was driving home from the Downtown Arts Center and felt like I just needed to run into the House of Bargains, which is a few blocks down. I’m wandering around, and I see this cute table that looks like it might be a cabinet for something. I go over and open it up, and to my ecstatic surprise, a 1930’s Singer Sewing Machine is laying inside! I don’t know if I can stress enough how awesome this was to find sitting in the town I live, because these things are not super common and they are worth a couple hundred bucks. My mother in law has one, and it sews like a dream! This is the sewing machine I’ve wanted for a while now, and there it was just sitting there. I composed myself, and then very calmly asked what the price was. The lady said $40, and I said, “SOLD!” The only two things I need to replace are the needle plate and the bobbin case, which I’ve already found on ebay for so cheap. I cannot wait to clean this beauty up and start sewing with it! I also found an old Samsonite suitcase that day. The rest of the loot I picked up here and there over the past week at the local Goodwill.

Found any good treasures lately?
